Talks
Sometimes I talk at conferences and meetups. This list has links to recordings if they are available, otherwise it's a list of things I find interesting enough to present on.
- 2024 Python Tooling
A series of seven ~10min talks on my perspective on Python tooling. It started with poetry but it applies to uv or any resolving/locking package manager. It goes over what the lock file means and when to run it. It gets into testing and frameworks in the end. Recorded privately.
- 2024 Slack Bots Are Neat
Intro to a chatops style Slack bot. Recorded privately.
- 2023 MLOps is Devops for Machine Learning
Making a comparison to devops adoption. Like, why it took so long. Software Maturity Crisis in ML and Python prototypes. How we could explore the space. Why there's no stack. Recorded privately.
- 2023 Intro to Ansible
This talk was made to explain what problem Ansible is solving but also the infrastructure repo I had started, what decisions I made. It also went over Ansible testing at the time. Recorded privately.
- 2016 Docker Dreams
An intro to Docker
- 2015 Encoding is Hard
pdxruby July 2015, was a lightning talk on the spot, unrehearsed. There is an accompanying blog post.
- 2015 Dream Talk - Ruby on Ales
A talk done at Ruby on Ales, 2015 in Bend, OR. It was about a pixel art music video I made in Ruby. The repo is here and the video of just the animation is on vimeo.
- 2015 Arduino Cat Faucet
A talk about an automatic watering faucet done at pdxruby. This project funny enough was featured on Sparkfun's homepage (where I bought the parts) and Hackaday. Just the video of the faucet in action is here.
I'd like to plug and thank Confreaks for all their hard work over the years. It takes a lot of coordination and work to record all the conferences live.
